Golden State Warriors through to the NBA Finals!
NBA – The Golden State Warriors win the Western Conference Finass 4-1.
After beating the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Western Conference finals, the Golden State Warriors are through to the NBA Finals.
There they will take on the winner of the NBA Eastern Conference finals – Boston Celtics or Miami Heat.
As of now, the Boston Celtics are a win away from the NBA Finals.
Stephen Curry had been in immaculate form throughout the Western Conference finals as he helped GSW triumph.
He went on to score 15 points yesterday in the 5th game. But, it was Klay Thompson, who starred for the Warriors. Klay shot 8 3-pointers in yesterday’s game and as a result, beat teammate Steph Curry to a unique record.
First Half
The first quarter of the 5th match started off on an equal note, with the Warriors slightly edging out in front of the Mavs. A 5 point lead for the Warriors.
It was the second quarter, where GSW started to run a riot! They mustered up 41 points in the second quarter to head into the half with a 17 point lead. In a must win game for the Mavericks, they were falling apart.
Thompson scored 19 points in the first half. After 2 forgettable years, where Klay had to undergo 2 surgeries and months of rehabilitation, he was back to his best. Leading the Warriors to their 6th NBA Finals in 8 years!
A record that has been matched only 4 times in the History of the NBA.
What also worked in Warriors’ favor was that Mavs star Luka Doncic scored just 6 points in the first half.
GSW went into the break, leading 69-52.
Second Half
With the Mavs needing to win this game at any cost, they came out guns blazing.
Throughout the third quarter, they managed to score 32 points, as compared to Warriors’ 25, to cut the lead down to just 10 points.
Doncic was starting to find his form back. He was well supported by Spencer Dinwiddie.
The fourth and the most important quarter for the season for Mavericks, ended in a draw, ergo losing the NBA finals spot to Golden State Warriors.
Warriors emerged victorious and now have a shot at winning the 4th NBA Finals in the last 8 years.
Thompson, who had had an average first 4 games against the Mavs, ran the show in game 5. A total of 32 points accumulated by him tonight. He was well supported by Andrew Wiggins(18), Draymond Green(17), Jordan Poole(16) and Steph Curry(15).
As for the Mavericks, Doncic and Dinwiddie were the ones who breached the 25 point mark. Doncic ended up with 28, while Dinwiddie scored 26.
Other notable contributions included Dorrian Finney-Smith with 13 and Jalen Brunson with 10.

As the clock ticked down the final seconds, Klay Thompson began dancing on the sideline before nearly being moved to tears during a celebration with his teammates.
Steph Curry was named the MVP of the Western Conference Finals!
The NBA Finals are scheduled to commence from 2nd June.
