Five Indian Footballers Selected for Training at Manchester United’s Old Trafford

Winners of the United We Play initiative earn a chance to train at Manchester United’s iconic stadium.

Five young Indian footballers have been selected to train at Manchester United’s Old Trafford after emerging victorious in the fourth edition of the United We Play initiative. The program, aimed at identifying and nurturing grassroots football talent, saw participation from over 15,000 aspiring players from across 18 Indian cities.

The winners, PC Lalchhuanawma (Mizoram), Shreejal Kisku (Bhubaneswar), Mohd Ayan (Lucknow), Bhakta Bahadur Pariyar (Nepal), and Chanason Chaiyatham (Bangkok), will soon head to Manchester for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Their trip includes a matchday experience, training sessions with Manchester United Soccer School coaches, and interactions with club legends.

The selection process concluded in Chandigarh, where Manchester United legend Gary Neville was present to witness the finalists in action. Neville, who is regarded as one of the best right-backs in football history, expressed his excitement about the talent displayed. “It’s inspiring to see the passion for football among young players in India. These winners have shown great dedication, and I’m sure the experience at Old Trafford will be unforgettable for them,” Neville said.

United We Play, a joint initiative by Apollo Tyres and Manchester United, has grown significantly over the years, providing a platform for young footballers to showcase their skills. The program not only promotes the sport in India but also introduces participants to global football techniques and experiences, motivating them to pursue professional careers.

The upcoming trip to Manchester is expected to be a defining moment for these young players as they train at one of the most famous football clubs in the world, gaining insights that could shape their future in the sport.
