FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022
FIFA : India earned automatic qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 by virtue of being the host of the competition. The Indian team will make its first appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup this year.
The Indian team has played in two competitions as a part of their preparation for the biennial youth World Cup. The tournaments include the 6th Torneo Female Football Tournament in Italy and Open Nordic Tournament WU16 in Norway .
Group Descriptions:
Group A – India, USA, Morocco, Brazil
Group A of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 features two debuting nations including hosts India and CAF representatives Morocco apart from runners-up of the inaugural edition of the tournament, the USA and two time quarterfinalists Brazil.
Group B – Germany, Nigeria, Chile, New Zealand
Interestingly, Group B of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 features the only previous host nation of this competition to have qualified for this edition of the tournament – New Zealand.
Along with the perennial OFC representatives, this group comprises yet another ever-present team in Germany and Nigeria, who are making their sixth appearance in this competition. Rounding off from CONMEBOL is Chile, who are returning after 2010.
Group C – Spain, Colombia, Mexico, China PR
Group C of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 will see a repeat of last edition’s final with defending champions Spain drawn with silver medallists Mexico.
AFC representatives China PR will be making their third appearance in this competition, while Colombia – in their fifth appearance – will be looking to finish beyond their previous four group stage exits.
Group D – Japan, Tanzania, Canada, France
In Japan and France, Group D of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 will host two former champions of this competition.
The remaining two teams represent the absolute opposites in terms of tournament experience with Tanzania, from CAF, making their competition debut and semi-finalist
from 2018, Canada, keeping their record of participating in every edition intact.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 will be held from 11 October 2022 to 30 October 2022.
