After testing positive for COVID-19 upon his arrival in Karachi on Wednesday, Faheem Ashraf was ruled out of the second Test against Australia, which begins on Saturday. Faheem joined the home side after testing positive after missing the first test owing to a fitness issue. He was placed in a five-day isolation term.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) indicated that a successor for Faheem will be appointed as soon as possible if necessary.
The Australian team was transported straight from the airport to the hotel after arriving in Karachi under strict security.
On Thursday morning, both teams will have full training sessions at National Stadium. Due to illness, Pakistan’s pace bowler Hasan Ali was unable to participate in the first Test, and fast bowler Haris Rauf, who was named in the initial squad, was unable to compete after testing positive for COVID-19 in Rawalpindi.
