India shrugged the disappointments of the T20 World Cup with the clean sweep over New Zealand in 3 matches T20 series
India shrugged the disappointments of the T20 World Cup with a 3-0 clean sweep of New Zealand in the T20 series. On Sunday, India beat New Zealand by 73 runs with Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel playing in the match at the Eden Gardens. It was a second back-to-back two-sided T20I series triumph with a clean sweep for India after defeating the Black Caps 5-0 in their home ground in 2020.
Earlier in the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first in Eden Gardens. While he wanted to put the batting line-up into the work and bowlers to cover the total, he succeeded in that.
New Zealand was off to a great start with Martin Guptill making up 21 in two overs. But they quickly lost the drive when Daryl Micthell got out in the third over. Axar Patel was the bowler, taking two wickets in the over as New Zealand’s fight started. While Guptill knocked a brilliant half-century, New Zealand kept on losing wickets as Kiwis suffered a huge 73-run loss.
The win meant, India became the first team to clean sweep New Zealand at home and away. India won the T20 series in 2020 5-0 in New Zealand.
