Dewald Brevis Responds to AB de Villiers Comparisons
Dewald Brevis, a young South African batter, has expressed his gratitude for being dubbed “Baby AB de Villiers.” Brevis’ achievements in the U19 World Cup have drawn parallels to AB de Villiers, a Proteas icon. The youngster’s flair and class have earned him the moniker ‘Baby AB,’ which he is incredibly charmed by. “I’m not sure what to say about being dubbed Baby AB. I’m not even close to being AB de Villiers. He’s a man I’ve admired since I first saw cricket, and he’s been my role model ever since. But I adore being called that; it’s both an honour and a bizarre experience “Brevis was cited on the official website of Cricket South Africa (CSA).
For Brevis, it was his first season as a contracted player for the Centurion-based franchise, and he scored an amazing 506 runs at a tournament that has launched the careers of numerous cricketing legends. Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, and Aiden Markram have all represented South Africa at the competition, while other international giants such as Brian Lara, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Virat Kohli have also created a name for themselves in the finals.
This puts Brevis in elite company, as his record run-haul saw him surpass India opener Shikhar Dhawan’s previous mark of 505 runs.
“It was a huge honour to be able to do what I accomplished. I’ve worked hard for it, and I feel that simply doing the right things makes all the difference. That was really beneficial in the conditions we were playing in and against the teams we were up against “Brevis said
“I was really humbled because you see the names of all these guys who have gone to the U19 World Cups over the years. They are guys you grew up watching and players who have turned out to be absolute legends of the game. They dominated cricket for years and to hear your name mentioned amongst theirs is unbelievable,” he added.
