KL Rahul Reflects on Overcoming Injuries, Doubts, & Mentoring Jaiswal
Delhi Capitals hope to boost qualification chances vs KKR
IPL 2022: Match number 41 sees Delhi Capitals play against a struggling Kolkata Knight Riders side.
IPL 2022: KKR are on a 5 match losing streak as they seek to end it against Delhi Capitals, who on the other hand are having an inconsistent season.
Previous Match
Delhi Capitals lost a last over thriller against Rajasthan Royals. The match was full of drama, excitement and controversies.
DC needed to score 36 runs in the last over. Rovman Powell put national teammate Obed McCoy under intense pressure as he hit 3 sixes in 3 balls to make it interesting.
DC wanted the 3rd ball to be a no-ball but, umpires decided to favor Rajasthan Royals in the 50-50 call. As a result of this, controversy sparked out. Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach entered the field of play to dispute the call. In the aftermath of the incidents, the coach has been banned for a match and fined 100% of his match fee. Rishabh Pant was also fined 50% of his match fee along with Shardul Thakur.
Kolkata Knight Riders on the other hand lost 4 matches in a row. One of the matches included a 44 run loss to Delhi Capitals. Former KKR played Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the match, picking up 4/35 in his 4 overs.
Head to Head
16 wins for KKR as compared to the 14 for DC.
Pitch Report
The pitch at Wankhede has always been good for batting. With small boundaries and ball coming onto the bat nicely, expect a high scoring match just like last time. The captain winning the toss will elect to field first.
Average first innings score at Wankhede – 186.
Probable Playing XI
With Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert returning from Covid, there is a chance of a change in the line up of DC.

Key Players
Delhi Capitals
Prithvi Shaw – The young Indian opener has been in tremendous form in the IPL, smashing the bowlers all round the park. Shaw has scored 254 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 164.94. Delhi Capitals will hope that Shaw and Warner both get them off to a flyer tonight at the batting paradise.
David Warner – Just like his fellow opening partner, Warner has taken the IPL with a storm, Warner has scored 219 runs in just 5 matches, with a very impressive average of 54.75. Warner has scored 50+ runs 3 times in 5 innings, showing how consistent he can be.
Kuldeep Yadav – Kuldeep made a trip northwards from KKR to join the Delhi Capitals at the Tata IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Kuldeep has been the pick of the bowlers for DC, as he has picked up 13 wickets in just 7 matches, including a 4fer vs his former team Kolkata Knight Riders. A similar performance will be expected from him tonight.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Shreyas Iyer – Iyer became the second player in IPL to go from Delhi to Kolkata and captain them. Gautam Gambhir was the first player to do so. Iyer has found form in the recent matches, with his highlight innings being against Rajasthan Royals, where he scored 85 off just 51 balls. Unfortunately KKR lost that match, as Yuzi Chahal picked up a hattrick and a fifer in that match.
Andre Russell – Russell showed his potential in the last match against Gujarat Titans. Andre Russell gave away just 5runs in the final over of the innings, whilst picking up 4 valuable wickets. This was the first time in IPL history that a player picked up 4 wickets in 1 over. He then brought the match close for KKR, with a quickfire 40 but, it wasn’t enough to take KKR over the line.
Sunil Narine – Narine has been one of the best bowlers for KKR this season. Sunil Narine has been economical throughout the Tata IPL 2022, whilst picking up 6 wickets. Narine has also been asked to open the innings, as KKR have struggled in the powerplay, but this move is yet to prove fruitful. It will be a match deciding matchup when Narine takes on the two explosive Delhi Capitals openers.
We can hope for an enthralling contest when the two teams take center stage at the Wankhede Stadium, tonight.
