Decider ODI in Perth as Australia Faces Key Player Absences
The ODI series between Australia and Pakistan has delivered some thrilling cricket, with both teams performing exceptionally. The first ODI was a nail-biter, with Pat Cummins keeping his cool under pressure and guiding Australia to a thrilling two-wicket win in Melbourne. However, the second ODI saw Pakistan take control, dominating both with the bat and the ball.
In Adelaide, Pakistan, a complete team performance was achieved. After restricting Australia to just 163 runs in the first innings, Pakistan quickly chased the target, winning by nine wickets. Key performances included Saim Ayub, who smashed a brilliant 82 runs off 71 balls, and Abdullah Shafique, who remained unbeaten on 64 runs. Shaheen Afridi picked up three wickets with the ball, but Haris Rauf stole the spotlight, claiming a match-winning 5-wicket haul.
With the series tied at 1-1, all eyes are now on the decider in Perth this Sunday. Australia will be without several key players for this crucial third ODI. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood—all mainstays of the Australian bowling attack—will be absent. In their place, Josh Inglis will take over as captain for the decider and the upcoming 3-match T20I series against Pakistan.
