The RuPay Prime Volleyball League will have its second double-header on Thursday, with the Chennai Blitz taking on the Calicut Heroes in the first match of the day and the Ahmedabad Defenders taking on the Bengaluru Torpedoes in the second match of the day at Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.

Calicut Heroes Captain Jerome Vinith remarked after their first victory of the season on Monday, “We were tremendously thrilled after putting up a terrific effort in our previous encounter against Bengaluru Torpedoes because we needed the win.” We needed to step up our game after losing our first two matches. I’m hoping we can keep winning matches. It’s also been a pleasure to have David Lee in our company.

The Ahmedabad Defenders have been in excellent form, winning three of their last three games. Ahmedabad Defenders Captain Muthusamy responded when questioned about the reasons for their success, saying, “We’ve been playing exceptionally well, with three wins in three games. On the court, the players are collaborating quite well. That has been our major source of strength. We also have a strong all-around squad and have covered all our bases. All the departments contributed to our triumphs, and we played as a team. Our current aim is to make the Final, and we are on track to do so.”

Speaking ahead of their encounter against Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes’ Captain Ranjit Singh said, “We have to ensure that we don’t repeat the mistakes we made in our previous two matches. Our next two matches are very important for us, and we will try our best to win both the matches. I feel we must improve our first passing and blocking. The Ahmedabad Defenders have been playing very well, but any team can win on its day. They are high on confidence, but anything can happen during the game.”

The second double-header of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League will begin at 1850 hrs at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, 17 February 2022.
