Cuban Woman Makes Shocking Revelation, Claims Argentina Star Football Diego Maradona Raped Her

A woman from Cuba named Mavys Alvarez on Monday made surprising claims about football legend Diego Maradona raping her. While speaking to the press, she made the case and revealed it happened when Maradona was in Cuba for his drug addiction therapy. The event took place in 2001 when he was 40 and she was just 16.

Mavys Alvarez also revealed that she had a relationship with late soccer star Diego Maradona two decades ago, addressing a news conference on Monday that the Argentine player had raped her when she was a teenager and “stolen her childhood.”

Alvarez, now 37, gave a statement last week to an Argentine Ministry of Justice court that is examining her charges of trafficking against Maradona’s former entourage, connected to cases when she was 16.

Alvarez Rego has not registered a charge herself but is giving testimony this week in Buenos Aires to an Argentine in connection with a charge led by an Argentine NGO.

The organization, called “Foundation for Peace,” filed the accusation after seeing her admissions in the American media in current weeks.

The complaint relates in particular to human trafficking, deprivation of liberty, forced servitude, assault, and battery. Maradona, widely regarded as one of the greatest ever footballer stars, died a year ago on Nov. 25, 2020.
