Pitch Report
The first afternoon match here has seen Jos Buttler score a splendid century, so winning the toss and choosing to bat first might be worth giving a thought.
With both teams’ top order struggling, a glorious chance for them to get back into form.
Probable Playing XI
Chennai Super Kings – Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja(C), Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni(wk), Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Mukesh Choudhary, Chris Jordan.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson(C), Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran(wk), Washington Sundar, Abdul Samad, Romario Shepherd, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan.
Key Players
Chennai Super Kings
Robin Uthappa – The opener will be expected to give CSK a quick start. With partner Gaikwad struggling to get runs, the onus will be on Uthappa to go after the bowling attack and help Gaikwad take his time to settle. He would have to make sure that there is not a lot of scoreboard pressure for the batsman to come.
Shivam Dube – Shivam Dube has been in fine form with the bat. He scored a magnificent half century against Punjab Kings, while the other batsmen failed to get going. With him being pushed up the order, he would like to continue his form and punish the SRH bowlers.
Chris Jordan – The Englishman had a great game against Punjab Kings. He was able to nail his yorkers and now allow Punjab to set a big score. A big positive for Chennai in their game against Punjab. Jordan is also a fine fielder, can count on him to take match winning catches. He can come in handy with the bat too. While all the other bowlers went for 30+ in their 4 overs, Jordan gave away only 23 runs, whilst picking up 2 wickets.
Sunriser Hyderabad
Rahul Tripathi – He finally got some runs in the bag, scoring 44(30) and formed a good looking partnership with Pooran against LSG. This is a good sign as Tripathi, who was brought in for a huge amount of INR 8.50 crore, is getting his touch back. A lot is expected from the Indian and SRH hope he can kick on from now.
Nicholas Pooran – The West Indian struggled a lot in the first game vs RR but, he got 34(24) against LSG. This would have given him confidence. If SRH were to score/ chase down a big total, Pooran would need to be at his absolute best. SRH invested a mammoth sum of INR 10.75 crore in Pooran. They hope he will help SRH win their 3rd IPL title. A big gamble investing so much in Pooran but, if it pays off it will be one of the best decisions made by the SRH management.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar – Bhuvi will be a useful weapon against the top order of CSK. Bhuvi can swing the ball both ways and will trouble the opening batsmen, especially Gaikwad who is low on confidence. With the game being played in the afternoon, dew would not affect the game a lot, so it would be easier for Bhuvi to nail his yorkers in the death overs.
Expect a feisty contest between the two last placed teams, as they look for their first points of the season at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
