Cristiano Ronaldo inclined towards leaving Manchester United
Even with the signing of a new manager, Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be displeased by the lack of effort of the Red Devils in the transfer market.
After just 1 year since joining the Red Devils again, Cristiano Ronaldo has informed the club that he will be willing to leave the club, if a suitable offer arrives.
Manchester United finished 6th in the Premier League and as a result, miss out on Champions League football, next season.
The only positive for the Portuguese forward is that even at 37, he finished as the clubs top goal scorer in all competitions.
The Portuguese maestro netted 24 goals and provided 3 more in his 38 matches in all competitions. (Stats via Transfermarkt).
Ronaldo was the star for United yet again in the UEFA Champions League, before their Round of 16 exit against Atletico Madrid. He scored clutch goals against Villarreal FC and Atlanta to help United past the group stages. Ronaldo finished with 6 goals in 6 games in the UCL.
In the Premier League, Ronaldo finished with 18 goals in the 30 games he featured in. New boss Erik Ten Hag was full of praise ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Ten Hag said, “Ronaldo is a giant, because of what he’s already shown and I think he’s still very ambitious.”
“Of course, I would like to keep him. He’s been very important to Manchester United this year and can produce great statistics.
But, the Red Devils legend seems to have made up his mind of leaving Old Trafford.
Reliable source, Fabrizio Romano suggests that the lack of activity in the transfer market has not gone down well with the forward. He perceives the lack of activity as lack of “ambition”.
“He is really disappointed by Manchester United’s general situation [but] in the market especially,” said Romano.
“Cristiano is really happy with some of the players in the team. But he is convinced that some signings are needed – six, seven important players are needed at Manchester United,” added Romano.
There are many suitable takers in AS Roma, Chelsea FC and even FC Bayern Munich, who are keeping an eye on the Ronaldo situation. We will have to wait and watch where Ronaldo will play, next season.
