Carlos Sainz clutches maiden pole at Silverstone

Late, late drama in the British Grand Prix as Carlos Sainz beats Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc to grab pole.

British GP: Ferrari and Carlos Sainz finish qualifying at first place. Championship leader Max Verstappen came in 2nd, teammate Leclerc in 3rd.

In a rain intense qualifying session, Sainz came up trumps in his very last lap, to clinch pole from Max Verstappen.

The Red Bull main driver led qualifying 1 and 2 but, was unable to better Carlos Sainz’s fast lap. Teammate Charles Leclerc brought out a yellow flag in the final lap and as a result, both him and Verstappen lost out on time. This was a boon in disguise for Carlos Sainz, as he finished on 1st place.

Lando Norris had an impressive outing on Saturday in his home Grand Prix, as he finished 6th, behind record championship winner, Lewis Hamilton.

Zhou Guanyu(Alfa Romeo) and Nicholas Latifi(Williams) completed the top 10 for tomorrow’s race.

Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas in 12th, separates the 2 Alpha Tauri’s of Pierre Gasly(11th) and Yuki Tsunoda(13th).

Daniel Ricciardo(McLaren) and Estaban Ocon(Alpine) finished 14th and 15th respectively.

Both the Haas’s and Aston Martin’s were out in Q1. The Williams of Alexander Albon finished 16th.

Will Sainz get his first ever win from pole position or will Leclerc or Verstappen come from behind to win the British Grand Prix? Can either Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton or George Russell finish on the podium in their home Grand Prix?

Only time will tell us the answers of the questions raised after an intense qualifying session.
