BWF World Tour Finals: Kidambi Srikanth Loses To Lee Zii Jia

Kidambi Srikanth went in the court on Friday understanding that solely a victory would secure that he gets it to the semi-finals of the open-ended BWF World Tour Finals. However, the previous World No.1 did not have the result he hoped for as he failed in even sets to Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia.

India’s Kidambi Srikanth fell out of the season of BWF World Tour Finals after losing to Malaysian Lee Zii Jia in even matches in his third and final group B event here on Friday. The former world no. 1 Indian was no gave a tough compitition to Lee, the ruling All England champion, going down 19-21 14-21 in 37 minutes to complete his drive.

It was Srikanth’s second defeat to the world no. 8 Malaysian, who had conquered the Indian at Hylo Open in level games. A six-point round supported the Indian to over grab a 17-15 head but he made it slide as Lee stole the first game.

In second game Srikanth begin with a great start, moving to 7-3 lead but Lee once again set the tables, leaping to 13-9 and held his nose forward to finally lock the doors on the Indian.

On the other hand, indian shuttler Lakshya Sen cruised into the semis even after meeting a downfall on Thursday against Denmark’s Vixtor Axelsen, due to Kento Momota and Rasmus Gemke’s removal after injury.
Momota faced retired calling a back injury at 1-1 in the initial game upon Sen on Wednesday.

Later in the competition, PV Sindhu will be squaring off with Pornpawee Chochuwong in her final Group staging match in the women’s singles tournament, while the Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy will be working against England’s Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith.
