Following India’s recent 3-0 Test series defeat to New Zealand, star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been scrutinized for their performances. Both players struggled to score significantly, leading to questions about their futures in the Indian Test squad. Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar suggested their performances in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia could be decisive.
However, former Australian cricketer David Warner believes that “age is just a number” for the two veterans. He emphasized that while Kohli and Sharma are crucial to India’s success, they must deliver in the challenging Australian conditions. Warner highlighted that Rohit and Virat’s bat skills, particularly in handling the angles and pace of Australian pitches, will be critical if India hopes to win the series.
“Young talent like Jaiswal will also be essential, but those two guys hold the key,” Warner noted on Fox Sports. “Their experience and determination could make them unstoppable if they bring the right attitude. It will be a big summer for them as they face off in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.”
The series will kick off on November 22, and expectations are high that India’s senior players will bounce back from the disappointing home season.
