Before presenting Virat Kohli with his 100th Test cap, Rahul Dravid delivers a brief speech
Virat Kohli was given a special hat on Friday in honour of playing his 100th Test match by former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid. In the first Test against Sri Lanka, he surpassed the milestone. Dravid complimented Kohli in front of a whole Indian squad prior to the start of the test match. Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s wife, was also in there. Kohli is a “testament to all that is good” in cricket, according to Dravid.
I believe it’s a tribute to all the things that make our sport so special: sweat, discipline, courage, skill, commitment, passion, and focus. You’ve got everything! You had a terrific time on your trip. The fact that you have played your 100th test match should make you feel extremely proud, as should the remarkable journey you have undertaken. Congratulations on your incredible achievement and that of your family. You have earned it, and hopefully this is just the beginning of many more marvelous things to come in your future. As we say in the locker room, “double it up.” “Dravid said this before presenting Kohli with the cap.
This is a unique opportunity for me. My wife has arrived, as has my brother. Everyone is ecstatic. There’s no doubt that this is a team sport, and without your help, it wouldn’t have been possible. Furthermore, because of the BCCI, we now play so much cricket across three different formats and an IPL Kohli added.
Kohli, 33, joined Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Ishant Sharma as the 12th Indian batsman to reach the century milestone. At an average of 50.39, Kohli has scored 7,962 runs in 99 Tests and 27 tons.
India’s red-ball captain Rohit Sharma, who started his career as a red-ball player, won the toss and elected to bat first.
Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jayant Yadav were selected as India’s spinners. The seam-bowling alternatives are Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
Shreyas Iyer was selected ahead of Shubman Gill in the batting order. Hanuma Vihari will bat at No. 3 and he will bat at No. 5.
