BCCI will allow 20,000 odd spectators at Eden Gardens for the third T20I

The BCCI has agreed to allow 20,000 fans, mainly ticket-holding members of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), to attend India’s third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) against West Indies on October 20. As agreed with other office bearers, you can open up for the last T20 match vs West Indies at Eden,” BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said in an e-mail to CAB chairman Avishek Dalmiya. CAB will only give complimentary tickets to its members and connected units because of this.

Our gratitude goes out to BCCI for their kind consideration.” This Board permission will allow CAB to fulfill its commitment to Life, Annual, and Honorary members for the 20th February match, Dalmiya added.

In an earlier interview with PTI, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly stated that the BCCI will not allow spectators since they do not want any health risks for the players. Dalmiya then requested that the Board allow fans to enter. In November of last year, 70% of spectators were permitted to attend the India-New Zealand T20I.

Around 2000 supporters were permitted in the corporate boxes and the upper deck of the Dr BC Roy Club House for the first two T20Is on Wednesday and Friday.

The first two games’ match passes are only available to representatives of the sponsors. The last three-match One-Day International series in Ahmedabad was played on an open venue.

As of now, India’s next series against Sri Lanka, which begins on February 24 in Lucknow with the first T20I, will be played in an open venue.

However, it remains to be seen if the Board would admit spectators after the gates open at Eden Gardens for the third T20I against the Windies.
