BCCI announced T20 Squad for the Sri Lanka series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named an 18-man India team for the home T20I series against Sri Lanka on Saturday, February 19. Former Indian cricketer Sharma, the chairperson of the national selection committee, presided over a virtual news conference to unveil Team India’s T20I team captained by Rohit Sharma.
Sharma announced at a news conference on Saturday that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had rested Kohli and Pant for the forthcoming T20I series between Sri Lanka and hosts India.
Chetan Sharma revealed that Jasprit Bumrah will be vice-captain for the Sri Lanka series. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the T20I series, with Ravindra Jadeja returning to the squad. With Kohli, Rahul, and Pant out, there is also a recall for Sanju Samson, who might see some action.
The BCCI has released a new schedule for India’s forthcoming series against Sri Lanka. The series will begin with T20 matches rather than Tests. Changes have also been made to the schedule and locations. The first T20 will be held at Lucknow, which was supposed to host the third and final T20.
Dharamshala will host the second and third T20s, whereas Mohali, which was previously scheduled to host T20s, will only host one Test match. The second and final Test match, a day-night game, will be held in Bengaluru.
