Barcelona draw at home while Dortmund suffer shock defeat

Barcelona started their UEFA Europa League campaign yesterday where they were pitted up against the Italian side Napoli. It was a challenging night for the Napoli team who had to face the Barcelona team at their home ground. However, it turned out to be a thrilling match in the end as even after the home team dominated the game as it went on, the Napoli team found themselves in the lead as Piotr Zielinski scored in the 29^th minute. Barca forward Ferran Torres equalized shortly before the hour mark from the penalty spot after the video assistant referee had spotted a very subtle Juan Jesus’ handball from an Adama Traore cross inside the area.

Napoli managed to take a draw for themselves. After the away goals rule being removed from the competition, it will be an amazing second leg back in Italy as both the teams would be going for it all to put their names in the last 16 tie. Barcelona manager Xavi expressed his views about the game and said “I’m disappointed about the result, not about our game. This is the way, we played well and deserved much more. The result is very unfair.”

In the other game, Borussia Dortmund suffered a shock defeat against Scottish side Rangers in a 4-2 win in Germany. Dortmund have also come into the Europa League because of finishing in third place in the UCL group stage and are considered as favorites to go through this tie. The German side have given themselves a tougher task now as they will have to turn the tie around in Scotland now.
