Babar Azam surpasses the “16-year-old” record!

Babar Azam surpasses the “16-year-old” record : Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, once again delivered when his side most needed him. Azam struck a magnificent hundred in Karachi, breaking several records along the way.

Pakistan will play New Zealand in the opening Test of a two-match home series today in Karachi. Since they have each lost four straight Test matches, New Zealand and Pakistan are both desperate for atonement and will view this series as their chance.

Ben Stokes and his formidable English Test team dealt Pakistan a devastating defeat. Prior to this game, England had defeated Pakistan by a score of 3-0, and Babar Azam had became the first Pakistani captain to lose four straight games at home.

Tim Southee, the new skipper who replaced Kane Williamson, is leading New Zealand on a tour of Pakistan. With a series victory and an improvement in New Zealand’s position in the World Test Championship rankings, Southee will undoubtedly try to kick off his era.

Pakistan chose to bat first in the opening Test after winning the toss. The first two batsmen for Pakistan, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood, were both stumped, which has never happened in a Test match before.

No matter what occurred at the other end, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam continued to bat, and as a result, he has now achieved an exquisite century.

Babar Azam set multiple records on his path to a historic hundred, including one that stood for 16 long years.

Babar Azam set the following records:

  • Babar Azam has now surpassed all other Pakistan batsmen in terms of total runs scored in a calendar year. Mohammad Yusuf previously held this record, scoring 2435 runs in 2006.
  • The Pakistani captain has scored 2477 runs in 44 games of all kinds. In little time at all, Babar had reached his half-century, and he currently owns the record for the most games with 50 or more points in a single year.
  • Ricky Ponting, who had 24 50+ scores in 2005, has now been eclipsed by Babar with his 25th 50+ score.
  • No matter how well Pakistan does in the longest format of the game, Babar has amassed 1000 runs overall in nine games. He completes this feat in 2022 as the fourth batter.
