Babar Azam and Wasim Akram were seen talking intensely on the field

Wasim Akram, the legendary Pakistan fast bowler, toned down his apparent angry on-field contact with Babar Azam during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday. A video of Akram having a furious argument with Babar went viral on the internet, and several Pakistan cricket fans were upset with the way Akram shooed orders to Babar from close the boundary rope.

Akram, the president of the Karachi Kings franchise in the PSL 2022, took to social media on Thursday to clarify his position on the viral video that is circulating online.

My conversation with Babar at the border last night surprised me with the reactions I saw. What I meant was, ‘why aren’t our bowlers bowling Yorkers or slower ones offside off?’ There is nothing else. Babar is a nice young man who has done his best. After Akram appeared to be furious with the Karachi Kings’ bowling effort, Babar listened attentively.

In their eighth league encounter of the PSL 2022, Babar’s team were unable to protect 29 runs from the last two overs against Multan Sultans. As Karachi Kings failed to defend a 174-run total, England fast bowler Chris Jordan conceded 20 runs in the last over of the contest.

In Jordan’s over, Kushdil Shah struck two sixes and a boundary before the Sultans ended the chase with three balls to spare.

Notably, nothing has gone well for Babar and the Karachi Kings in PSL 2022. The Kings have lost all eight of their games so far and are at the bottom of the points standings.

With their play-off aspirations dashed, Karachi Kings will attempt to cap their dreadful season with something to rejoice about when they meet Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators in their last two PSL 2022 league matches on Friday and Sunday.
