Australia Announce Squad for T20I Series Against Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka will play a 5 match T20 series in Australia from 11th February 2022. The T20 series will be played across three venues – Sydney Cricket ground (SCG), Manuka Oval, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Australia has announced the squad for the upcoming Tt20 series against Sri Lanka. The 16 men squad has been announced. The team will be captained by Aaron Finch. David Warner and World Cup hero Mitchell Marsh will miss the T20 series against Sri Lanka. World Cup hero Mitchell Marsh will be rested for the series. Justin Langer and some support staff members have been set to be on vacation during the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka. The two players and the Coach will therefore be preparing themselves for the Pakistan tour. Andrew McDonald will be appointed as the head coach in the absence of Justin Langer.
Jos Hazelwood who had missed the last four matches against England due to injury has returned to the squad. McDermott scored 577 runs at a strike rate of 153.86 in the Big Bash Tournament (BBL). McDermott who has been named as player of the Tournament in the BBL has also been returned to the Australian’s side. Till now, McDermott has played 2 ODIs and 17 T20s for the Australia team. Last year he also went to Bangladesh and West Indies with the squad. Travis Head, Jhye Richardson, and Moises Henriques are back on the Australian side as well.
This squad will begin preparation for the T20 World Cup defence at home later this year and ncludes several players who have an early chance to impress in these five matches against a quality opposition, said chief selector George Bailey.
Australia will play three tests, three ODIs, and one T20 in Pakistan. which will start on 3rd of March.
