Another setback for SL , Opener Nissanka turns covid-19 positive
SL vs AUS 2022 : Sri Lanka’s trouble is increasing in the second Test being played against Australia . 6 players from Sri Lanka have been found to be covid-19 positive.
SL vs AUS 2022 : Sri Lanka has suffered another setback in the test series being played against Australia . Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka was found infected with Covid in the middle of the second Test match against Australia at the Galle International Stadium. This is the 6th case of covid -19 in the team.
Ahead of the start of the 4th day’s play on morning ,Sri Lanka Cricket issued an update saying that Nissanka has tested positive for covid-19. He has been quarantined and is under the care of doctors.
Fernando replaced the series opener Angelo Mathews , but he was also found infected . However , this is the 6th Covid -19 case in the Sri Lanka camp after Jeffrey Vandersay , Dhananjaya de Silva, Asitha Fernando ,Spinner Praveen Jayavikrama did not play the initial test . He was likely to be called for the second match , but he too has been found infected with Covid.
Sri Lanka in strong position
Sri Lanka, however, has tightened its grip against Australia in the second Test. Batting in the first innings, Australia team was all out for 364 runs. In response, Sri Lanka scored 554 runs in the first innings and managed to take a lead of 190 runs on the basis of first innings.
The hero of the innings for Sri Lanka was Dinesh Chandimal. Chandimal played an unbeaten innings of 206 runs. Starc took four wickets for Australia.
