Adam Zampa, an Australian spinner, has acknowledged that he was disappointed when he was not selected by any team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) super auction.
It was unfortunate that I could not attend the IPL auction. To be honest, I’m a little disappointed. If there was ever a year when I imagined I’d get the chance to travel over there again, it was this year. Simply because of the manner I’m bowling, and, from a personal standpoint, I feel like my game is at a place where I just want to be playing the greatest cricket possible “According to Zampa on the Unplayable Podcast.
Zampa and Kane Richardson, who were playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last season, chose to leave the IPL midway through the India phase because COVID-19 instances began to rise in India and there were questions about whether Australia would admit any tourists.
There’s international cricket, and then there’s the IPL. It’s quite difficult as an overseas spinner, especially if you’re simply a specialty spinner who isn’t as much of a mystery spinner. The way the super auction played out, they spent a lot of money on fast bowlers, a lot of money on allrounders, and even batters didn’t receive a lot of money. They make a decent living “Zampa said.
After all that money has been spent, they say, ‘OK, we need some spinners now,’ and they usually feel that the local folks can do an adequate job anyway. However, I believe there will be prospects with the IPL next year. I believe I’d be a valuable addition to any of those groups, especially with the way I’m bowling right now “he said.
Zampa has had a great year, as he also took 13 wickets in Australia’s T20 World Cup victory.
The spinner is presently a member of Australia’s team, which is playing a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
