Abey Kuruvilla set to be BCCI’s new General Manager
Former Indian fast bowler Abey Kuruvilla is all set to be appointed as the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) new General Manager. He has played a total of 10 Test cricket matches for the Indian Cricket team. Abey was appointed as the Senior selector in the board last year which has been left by him to take over his new post which was earlier handled by Dhiraj Malhotra. Dhiraj Malhotra had stepped down from the post to rejoin his previous team Delhi Capitals who play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kuruvilla on the other hand was earlier appointed as the West Zone selector and had beaten Ajit Agarkar who was in contention for the same. He had to relinquish his post as the rule in the constitution regarding the national selectors states that any national selector (junior or senior) can’t stay in the post for more than five years cumulatively.
Kuruvilla’s appointment had been decided and announced in the Board’s Apex council meeting which took place on Wednesday and didn’t realize that the former still had a year left as the selector. This was the same meeting in which different Indian cricketers were provided information about a promotion or in some cases demotion regarding their contract with the board.
