Wimbledon 2022 : Rafael Nadal apologizes to Lorenzo Sonego

Rafael Nadal defeated Lorenzo Sonego in the third round match at Wimbledon Championships. During this match, Nadal also appeared to lose his temper.

Rafael Nadal has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon Championship 2022. Nadal defeated 27th-ranked Lorenzo Sonego 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 in the third round on Saturday. Second seed Nadal was the Wimbledal champion in 2008 and 2010. Nadal will face Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands for a place in the quarter-finals.

The 26-year-old Van de Zandschulp defeated France’s Richard Gasquet 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (9/7), 6-1 in the third round. By the way, during the match against Lorenzo Sonego, Nadal appeared to lose his temper.

Actually Nadal was upset by the noise being made on the court by Italian player Sonego. Nadal also called Sonego on the net to express his displeasure on this issue, where both had a very long conversation.

Now Nadal has apologized to Sonego on that whole incident. Nadal said,

“I would like to say that whatever happened was wrong. I shouldn’t have called him on the net. That’s why I apologize to him. That’s my fault. Never mind, I’ve got it. This is something I talked about in the locker room.”

Nadal said, “The only thing I can say is that I have seen him in person. I didn’t mean to bother him at all. We had some issues there, but that’s it.”

Nadal has won 22 Grand Slams

Nadal broke Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic’s record for most 20-20 Grand Slam titles won by winning the Australian Open earlier this year. Then Dal won a record 14th French Open title last month by defeating Casper Rood of the Netherlands in straight sets. It was also his 22nd Grand Slam title.
