SC East Bengal head coach Jose Manuel Diaz felt his team was unlucky to concede the goal against Kerala Blasters but suggested that the performances of his team must improve for them to get a win in the Indian Super League (ISL).
There was no separating the two sides settled for a share of spoils after a 1-1 draw at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco, Goa on Sunday. Both goals were scored in the first half as Tomislav Mrcela (37’) headed SC East Bengal into the lead before Alvaro Vazquez (44’) leveled matters for the Blasters on the stroke of half-time.
In the Post Match-Press Conference Diaz said:
“We have to keep working and improve our level because our performances are not good enough to get three points.”
“Our level is what it is. The opponents created chances but today we were unlucky as Kerala Blasters FC’s goal was after a deflection.”
“The whole team needs to improve including the coaches and the players. We had to make the changes as two players were on yellow cards and also some players were tired and that’s the reason for the changes.”
SCEB is yet to register their first victory in the ISl as they sit bottom of the league table with just three points to their name. Diaz’s side has a mountain to climb if they want to stay in contention for the top 4 spots.
