Wasim Jaffer resigns as batting coach of the Punjab Kings

Wasim Jaffer, a former India opener, announced his retirement from the Punjab Kings (PBKS) club in a unique and hilarious manner. On the eve of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, Jaffer stepped down as the batting coach of the PBKS.

Jaffer praised the Punjab franchise and wished their head coach Anil Kumble well in the forthcoming Indian Premier League season. Jaffer joined the then-Kings XI Punjab in 2019 and worked closely with the support staff until the 2021 season.

“Adios, and thank you @PunjabKingsIPL, it’s been a pleasure. Wishing @anilkumble1074 and the team very best for #IPL2022,” “Jaffer posted a photo of a popular Bollywood song Channa Mereya from the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Jaffer was named main coach of the Odisha cricket team for two seasons last year. Jaffer appeared in 31 Tests for India, scoring 1944 runs, the best of which was 212.

Previously, KL Rahul, the Punjab Kings’ captain for the last two seasons, and Andy Flower, the team’s assistant coach, decided not to return. Only two players have been retained by Punjab ahead of the January blockbuster auction: Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh. At the auction, they will be looking for several young people as well as some known personalities.
