The Indian Men’s Badminton team has created history!

The Indian Men’s Badminton team has just taken the nation to it’s first ever Thomas Cup final, as they beat Denmark 3-2 to win the tense semi final clash.

Thanks to a comeback win by HS Prannoy in the final singles clash against Rasmus Gemke, team India has qualified to play in the finals of the Thomas Cup.

India were off to an unfortunate start as Lakshya Sen was beaten by Viktor Axelsen 13-21 twice as Denmark took a 1-0 lead.

Though in the first doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty beat Kim Astrup/Mathias Christiansen 21-18, 21-23, 22-20 to draw India level.

India took the lead in the second Singles as Kidambi Srikanth beat Anders Antonsen 21-18, 12-21, 21-15.

Unfortunately, India were pegged back again in the second doubles of the day as Krishna Prasad Garaga/Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala lose 14-21, 13-21 to Anders Skaarup Rasmussen/Frederik SøGAARD as Denmarl drew level 2-2.

HS Prannoy had the onus on himself to take India to it’s first ever Finals. He faced a tough challenge in the form of Rasmus Gemke.

To add to the pressure, he had an unwanted start as Rasmus Gemke beat him 13-21 in the first set.

But, he had the confidence and ice in his veins to script an iconic comeback. Pranoy won the second set 21-12 to take the decider match to its last set.

Pranoy scripted history in the last set as he beat Rasmus Gemke 21-12.

India now take on Indonesia who too beat Japan with an aggregate score of 3-2 in the other semi final.

The final is set to take place on 15th May and we are very proud of what the entire team has achieved, irrespective of the result.
