Shreyas Iyer was praised for his performance during the T20I series that India won against Sri Lanka at home. Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian captain, too lauded him for his performance. The Indian legend described Iyer’s approach to the game as “confident” manner of playing the game against New Zealand.
He was not completely fit in South Africa when he played. According to what I’ve been informed, he had a stomach ulcer. Gavaskar stated this during a Star Sports interview.
In his remarks, Gavaskar did raise one point the team’s management will consider: Gavaskar’s batting position.
He will, however, be inspired by his efforts in the two Test matches against the Kiwis. It’s just a matter of figuring out where he’ll fit in, whether it’ll be at three or five. That’s something the team’s management will be looking at, “he added.
In the three matches against Sri Lanka, Iyer was in outstanding form, scoring 57 not out, 74 not out, and 73 not out.
A two-match Test series will begin in Mohali on March 4 against Sri Lanka.
The Mohali Test will be extremely special since it will be former captain Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match.
Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy stadium will host the second Test match on March 12.
