April 12, 2022: The students of Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior, challenged four-time National Champion and Pro Panja League to win INR 50,000.
‘Champion of Champions’ Sachin Goyal was the man to beat.
The event, which was graced by LNIPE Vice-Chancellor, Vivek Pandey, Head of Department Dr. Ashish Fulkar, and lecturer and referee Rajeev Rajawat, saw students challenging the Gwalior star athlete in a series of arm-wrestling bouts in front of hundreds of enthusiastic students.
The students put up a tough fight but none of them were able to emerge victorious against Sachin Goyal, who continued his dominance on the table. The event created a huge curiosity amongst the youngsters about the sport of Arm Wrestling.
Parvin Dabas and Preeti Jhangiani promised to provide a table to the students on campus so they could begin training in it.
Speaking on the event, Pro Panja League Co-owner Preeti Jhangiani expressed her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor Shri Vivek Pandey and University staff for extending a warm welcome to them.
“We thank Shri Vivek Pandey Ji at the prestigious LNIPE University for hosting us and Pro Panja for a memorable day. It was delightful to see the passion among the students for a sport that is synonymous with our roots. Gwalior has become one of the major hubs of rising arm-wrestlers in India, and we hope to see many more arm-wrestlers coming from LNIPE and the city in the future.”
