Stokes admits he “let the team down” during the Ashes.

Stokes has recalled England’s 0-4 defeat against Australia in the Ashes before the start of the three-match Test series against the West Indies.

Stokes reflected on the team’s failed battle in the Ashes, saying that he “let the team down” during the five-match series, which begins on March 8. The great all-rounder believes he would have been in better physical shape if he hadn’t taken a six-month break from the game.

According to Cricket.com.au, Stokes said that he and other players had many open discussions in Australia. Based on my experience on the tour, I believed I let the team down in other areas than performance. When I visited Australia, I wished I had been in better physical shape.

A new beginning awaits the squad in the first Test against the West Indies in Antigua on Tuesday, in which Stokes said that they will attempt to erase the disappointment of losing the Ashes.

I never want to feel that way again because it’s difficult to focus on what didn’t go well in Australia. It is now our only option to focus on the fantastic features of Australia, a country full of flaws and difficulties. We’ve come here to clean the slate. We can’t go back in time. In order to keep doing what he is doing, he knows what he needs to do to provide the squad with what it wants.

Stokes will not play in the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season after opting out of the auction last month.
