Sports Trumpet Exclusives interview MMA, MFN fighter Angad Bisht

Angad Bisht belongs from a small village in Uttarakhand, where his family, comprising of five people (mother, father, brother and his wife) run a sweet shop.
He was preparing to become a doctor and travelled outside Uttarakhand. But Angad was not being satisfied by a 9 to 5 job, and was always interested in fighting. At the age of 21, Angad started training at a gym where he stumbled upon Mixed Martial Arts, and was surprised to see people paying him to fight and also cheering him.

He started competing in Amateur fights, and then went on to compete in professional fights. He fought in Brave Combat Federation (2019) and also in Super Fight League (2018). Angad has a professional MMA record of 5-3 (W-L).

He never had a role model in MMA because he had never seen a MMA fight before. When he started competing, he felt an adrenaline rush and a release of all the pent-up energy he had in him, and realised he wish to do this for the rest of his life.

Recalling, one of his memorable experiences, when Angad made his SFL debut in Mumbai, he had a minor wrist fracture. He still when his fight. Angad believes injuries are part of a fighter’s life and career, but one cannot make an excuse while getting into the ring.

Angad is enjoying the life he is leading right now and feels proud to be competing in a big organisation such as Matrix Fight Night. This will be the first time he will compete in Bantamweight category as he was previously competing in Featherweight. He realised that height factors matters a lot in MMA, and hence he decided to switch his weight category.

Angad feels he has a lot of potential and he has studied his MFN competitor and believes it will be a fight of an equal footing.
Apart from competing in MMA events, Angad also runs a gym in Dehradun where is currently staying and he is training 30-40 fighters under him.
