Romanian Simona Halep eased past US Tennis star Amanda Anisimova in her quarter final clash. She beat the Anisimova 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals.
After winning the Wimbledon in 2019, Simona Halep pulled out of the next Wimbledon, due to a calf injury. The Romanian tore a muscle at May’s Italian Open and was subsequently ruled out of the French Open.
3 years on from her magnificent Grand Slam victory, Halep has set her sight on yet another Wimbledon title.

Following her win, Halep said that she believed in herself, to beat the American and reach the final.
“I’m very emotional right now, because it means a lot to be back in the semis,” Halep said.
“She could crush the ball in the end, and I didn’t know, actually, what to do,” Halep said. “But I just believed in myself. I said that I have to stay there, strong on my legs.”
Halep now faces a crunch semis clash against World number 17, Elena Ryabakina. Rybakina beat Ajla Tomljanovic 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The tie is scheduled to begin at 6 pm IST tomorrow.
