PV Sindhu has made it to the semi-finals of the Singapore Open

PV Sindhu has made it to the semi-finals of the Singapore Open. She defeated Han Yi of China in 3 games in the quarterfinals of the women’s singles (Singapore Open 2022). In the first game, Sindhu struggled, but China’s Han won 21-17, after which the next two games were won by Sindhu 21-11, 21-19 to secure a place in the last-4. Saina Nehwah will also be in the other quarter-finals. At the same time, talking about the men’s category, HS Prannoy will show his mettle in the last-8 match.

In the first game, both the players showed an equal game. At one time the score was equal to 14-14 and 16-16. But Han Yi then showed great play and won the game 21-17. In the second game, Sindhu maintained the lead from the beginning. After 11-9, he finally won the game 21-11 to level the score at 1-1. Now the third game between the two saw a clash.

In the third and final game, Sindhu was leading 4-2. Han then came back to take a 7-5 lead. After that the score became 9-7. Han had an 11-8 lead at the break. After this, the score was 13-9 in favour of the Chinese player. Sindhu then tried to make a comeback and took the score to 11-14.

The score was then tied at 14-14. The Indian then took a 15-14 lead. The score was then levelled at 16-16. Sindhu then scored 2 points in a row and took a 18-16 lead. After this, the Chinese player made a comeback and the score was levelled at 18-18. After the 19-19 draw, Sindhu scored 2 consecutive points and won the game 21-19 to clinch the match. The match lasted for 62 minutes.

Earlier, third seed Sindhu had defeated world number 59 Hui Lin Anguyen of Vietnam 19-21, 21-19, 21-18 in 3 games to advance to the last-8. Even in the quarter-finals, they had to struggle for 3 games.
