Poland have decided to not play their World Cup playoff game against Russia after their invasion of Ukraine. The Russian troops have invaded the regions of Ukraine are have caused a lot of destruction in the country on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Polish FA have decided to not play against the Russian football team next month because of these war-like situations.
The association’s president Cezary Kulesza stated his views on the situation and said “In light of the escalation of the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine, the Polish national team is not going to play a match against the Russian Republic.” He also said, “No more words, it’s time to act.” The football federations of Sweden, Poland, and the Czech Republic have collectively brought out this decision in front of the world and have decided to stick by it.
Russia has already lost the chance to host this year’s UEFA Champions League final which was supposed to be played in St. Petersburg. It has been shifted to be played at the Stade de France in Paris now as the European football committee has decided that playing in Russia won’t be possible under these circumstances.
All the world has been wishing nothing but the best for Ukraine in these testing times as most of the people have been stuck in the country during these war-like conditions.
