India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra achieved a big record in the Paavo Nurmi Games. He set a new national record by throwing 89.30m javelin. Neeraj Chopra bettered his national record of 87.58m, which he had achieved during the Tokyo Olympics.
Paavo Nurmi is Finland’s top track and field competition in the summer. This competition is organized every year since 1957. It is a Continental Tour Gold Meet, a top-tier world athletics competition.
Neeraj had said in an interview on the New Year that he has been eyeing 90 meters for some time now. His personal best is 88.07m.
He had said,
‘Medal is one thing, distance is another. Crossing the 90m mark will put me in the list of the best throwers in the world. I’m close to it and may get to this point soon, but I don’t think too much. There’s no pressure on me.
