Mumbai City FC’s unbeaten run to the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season, defender Mehtab Singh has been awarded the Emerging Player of the Month award for October, a prize which is given to the best young player in the Hero ISL every month.
Mehtab scored a goal and helped MCFC register two clean sheets across four matches in the month of October. The centre-back’s sensational performances at both ends of the pitch saw him become the first Indian player to win three back-to-back Hero of the Match awards.
The defender was chosen by 8 out of the 13 experts as their topmost player. In the second place was East Bengal FC’s Lalchungnunga, who was chosen by 2 out of the 13 experts as their topmost player.
The fact that the coach trusts you give you a lot of confidence. I have received great support from the team and we are always helping each other so that makes you feel very good,” he said in an interview earlier.
Mehtab will hope to contribute more in the ongoing season after receiving regular game time under head coach Des Buckingham
