Liverpool Held To A Draw

Liverpool and Tottenham played one of the most electrifying Premier League games in recent years in a 2-2 draw which resulted in Jurgen Klopp’s side dropping three points behind leaders Manchester City.

On a weekend where Covid postponements decimated the Premier League programme, fans were treated to a thriller in north London, which could be described as described

“one of the best games ever seen,” an exhilarating contest that resembled a basketball game as both sides went full throttle.

Harry Kane gave Spurs the lead with a clinical finish from Tanguy Ndombele’s excellent through ball (13), one of many clear-cut openings for the hosts in an end-to-end first hour where both Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli missed big openings.

Liverpool’s defense may have looked shaky, but their attack was as blistering as ever, with Diogo Jota levelling with an outstanding header via Andrew Robertson’s cross (35), and it could have been 4-4 before the half-time break as both the teams missed some big goal-scoring opportunities.

There were major talking points in the second period as Dele Ali was pushed from the back by Trent Alexander Arnold and he went to the ground inside the box but no penalty was awarded. Liverpool then hit Spurs on the counter as Robertson scored a scrappy header to give visitors the lead.

The home side scored within minutes as goalkeeper Alisson missed the ball as he was trying to clear it which fell into the feet of Son who leveled the score.

The energy then boiled over as Robertson kicked through Emerson near the touchline, at first seeing a yellow that was then upgraded to a red after VAR asked referee Paul Tierney to consult the pitchside monitor (77).

The game ended with both sides sharing points in what could be a contender of the match of the season.
