Kolkata Thunderbolts lift the inaugural Prime Volleyball League trophy

It was the clash of the titans as Ahmedabad Defenders locked horns with the Kolkata Thunderbolts in the Prime Volleyball League final to lift the trophy for the first time in the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday. After an intense and thrilling between both the sides, the Kolkata Thunderbolts have won their maiden Prime Volleyball league trophy as they managed to beat Ahmedabad 13-15 10-15 12-15. After coming to this final as the table toppers, the Ahmedabad defenders were the team to beat in this tournament and the Kolkata Thunderbolts rose up to the challenge and took home the trophy with them.

Ashwal Rai and Vinit Kumar had once again shown everyone why they are the star players of the team as both of them helped bring the trophy home after an impressive performance by the duo. The Ahmedabad Defenders tried their best to come back into the game but committed one too many mistakes for them to recover.

After a grueling season of 24 matches, we finally have a winner in the name of the Kolkata Thunderbolts who would forever be remembered as the inaugural winners of India’s domestic Volleyball league. This season proved to be a very important one in terms of the sport as unlike other sports like cricket and football, Volleyball is not a fan favourite everywhere you go in the country. The Rupay Prime Volleyball has started to bring a change in the minds of people with sports fans shifting to the volleyball after a long time. These are signs of good things to come as Volleyball looks to grow in a country full of potential.
