Jamshedpur FC win 3-0 in crucial game against Kerala Blasters FC

Jamshedpur FC got a crucial 3-0 victory over Kerala Blasters FC at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa to solidify their claim on the tightly contested semi-final spots in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). Kerala Blasters are still left with a game in hand on the other teams but were not able to capitalize on their chance to make the top spot theirs in the future.

Two Greg Stewart (45’, 48’) penalties accompanied by a goal by Daniel Chukwu (53’) sealed the match in JFC’s favour.

Jamshedpur FC started the match brightly, they dominated the possession and the chances created in the opening exchanges. Daniel Chukwu played a delicious cross into the box which was gathered by Prabhsukhan Gill, who got clattered with Harmanjot Khabra in the process.

KBFC started to get themselves back into the game as the first half went on.

Jitendra Singh got a brilliant chance to score the first goal but failed to sort his feet and his shot got blocked.

Minutes later, Denechandram Meitei brought down Greg Stewart and conceded a penalty, which was confidently finished by Stewart to put Owen Coyle’s men into the lead just before the end of the first half.

Ivan Vukomanovic’s side started the second half terribly. They conceded a penalty as Boris Singh was tripped by Marko Leskovic. Stewart calmly chipped the ball into the back of the net to double the Men of Steel’s lead.

A quick freekick by Stewart found Boris who played a delicate pass to Daniel Chukwu, and the Nigerian slotted it into the back of the net.

KBFC had a chance to get themselves back into the game, but Jeakson Singh’s header, from an Adrian Luna corner, went wide of the post.

Ritwik Das then tried to catch out Prabhsukhan Gill from an acute angle, but his shot went just over the bar.

Ishan Pandita had a chance to score his first of the game but failed to keep his header on target.

The Jharkhand-based outfit professionally saw out the rest of the match and got a memorable win.

This result takes the Men of Steel to 2nd place in the Hero ISL table, whereas Kerala Blasters drop down to 4th.

Ivan Vukomanovic’s team next take on SC East Bengal on Monday and Jamshedpur FC will lock horns with top-four rivals Mumbai City FC on Thursday.
