Jaipur Pink Panthers climb to fifth spot after beating Telugu Titans

A Super 10 from Arjun Deshwal and a quality all-round display from Brijendra Singh helped the Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Telugu Titans 54-35. With this win, Jaipur climbed to fifth on the points table.

The game got off to a cagey start as the two teams split the first eight points evenly. Brijendra then helped the Pink Panthers pull ahead on the scoreboard with two successful raids. Deshwal joined in on the act as Jaipur built a five-point lead and reduced the Titans to just two players on the mat. A tackle point and another successful raid later, Jaipur inflicted the game’s first All Out to take a 16-7 lead.

Beniwal and Deshwal traded Super Raids before the latter added a couple of more points to his team’s total to help them go into the break leading by 12.

A tackle point early in the second half reduced the Titans to a solitary man and the defender surrendered a raid point, as Jaipur inflicted another All-Out to take a 15-point lead.

Deshwal and defence continued their relentless surge, as the Pink Panthers outscored the Titans 7-3 and reduced them to a solitary man on the mat. Jaipur’s defence sat back and allowed the raider to pick up the bonus before pinning him down to inflict a third All Out and take a 38-15 lead.

It was then the Titans’ turn to embark on a big run, as they outscored the Pink Panthers 5-2 to reduce their deficit to 20. Adarsh’s two-point raid reduced Jaipur to a solitary man on the mat, but Brijendra responded with a two-point raid of his own to keep the All Out at bay. But the Titans did not let the opportunity slip and eventually inflicted the All Out to cut the deficit to 17.

The Titans outscored the Pink Panthers 5-4 in the final few minutes of the game before a Super Raid from substitute Ashok ensured a perfect end to a stellar performance for Jaipur.
