“It’s a bit disappointing not to come out on the winning side” : Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma : Team India captain Rohit Sharma said that in a press conference on the eve of the first T20I that the first two days after being found Covid positive were very difficult. Rohit has confirmed that he is fully fit now .

Indian team’s full-time captain Rohit Sharma is going to be seen in action in the three-match T20 series against England starting on July 7. The Indian captain has recovered from Covid and is ready to return. However, he was not a part of the rescheduled Test match against England due to being found to be covid positive, in which England defeated India by 7 wickets.

Rohit Sharma said on the eve of the first T20I that he has recovered from Covid-19 and is feeling better. The all-format captain said that he was facing difficulties for the first two days after covid positive and also added that the impact of covid varies from player to player.

Rohit led India in a 4-day warm-up match against Leicestershire in June, but the Indian captain did not take the field on the third day. After which there were speculations that maybe Rohit was injured. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Rohit was found to be covid-19 positive on 25 June.

Even before the start of the series against England, Rohit was not expected to play in the first T20. Because he didn’t play in the Test match, the star opener said that he opted to play T20Is. Significantly, the team’s star players Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumran, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have not been selected for the first match.

Rohit Sharma said ,

“The recovery has been good. It’s been 8-9 days since I was Covid positive. We have seen over the years that each player has reacted differently to the Covid virus. Don’t know what will happen in future but for now, everything is fine with me.”

“I started training 3 days ago. So I thought of participating in this game (first T20). Body wise I am feeling better. I don’t have any symptoms now. I have given 2-3 tests and all of them have come back negative (laughs). I’m just waiting for the game. It’s going to be an exciting one,” he added .

He also said that it is a bit disappointing not to come out on the winning side , and it is clear that it’s a different format additionally a different set of players who are going to take the field for us .
