Interaction with the Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra

Olympics star Neeraj Chopra speaks to the media, mentioning his aims and the competitions he’ll participate in.

Neeraj Chopra speaks to the Media, before he departs to represent India in the few competitions as a preparatory games for the forthcoming World Championship.

First up, Neeraj Chopra speaks about his training and gives us an overview in which tournaments he is going to participate in.

“The training is going on as per our plans. As you all know, the training started a bit late, in December but, we feel like we have recovered for the gap that was caused by the delay. The competitions will be commencing from the next month. It is a continental tour competition, that is going to be held in Finland. After that, I am thinking about participating in the Diamond league that is going to take place in Stockholm, Sweden. Later, there is the World Championship. This is our main target for the year.”

Next up, Neeraj talks about his goal of throwing the Javelin over the 90m throw. Yesterday, Reigning world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada clinched the men’s javelin throw gold medal in Doha with a massive throw of 93.07m. Neeraj speaks about this as well.

“Whoever the athlete, is, he/she is bound to perform at the biggest stage. There’s a reason they are competing at the topmost level. He also mentions Czech track and field athlete Jakub Vadlejch who also breached the 90m mark yesterday. Jakub was the one who came in 2nd, behind Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Both the throwers are performing very well. Our target is similar to the ones they’ve dreamt of. They’ve completed the 90m throw and I wish I can replicate this as soon as possible. To achieve this, there are a lot of factors that need to be kept in mind. It depends on how I am feeling while I am competing there on the ground. There is a chance that I can get in a competitive throw but, it will all depend on what is going on at that moment of time at the ground and how I am able to handle the pressure during my throw.”

This shows that despite not being able to participate, Neeraj is keeping close tabs on the ones he is going to compete with.

Neeraj is looking fit and ready both physically and mentally as he looks hungry to achieve success in the upcoming Competitions.
