India wins over Australia in its first-ever Super Over match.

India wins over Australia : At the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, India Women overcame Australia Women in the Super Over of their second T20I. Australia only managed to reach 16 for one against India’s 20 for one in the Super Over. With Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath scoring undefeated half-centuries, Australia first reached 187 for one in 20 overs. McGrath scored 70 runs off 51 balls, and Mooney scored 82 runs off 54 balls. For India, Deepti Sharma bagged a wicket while in excellent form. Richa Ghosh smashed a four in the final delivery to square the game as the Indian team responded by reaching 187 for five. Richa scored 26 runs off 13 balls without being bowled out. Smriti Mandhana, who scored 79 runs off of 49 balls, served as the foundation of India’s innings. Meanwhile, Australia’s Heather Graham claimed three wickets.

The Stars of the Show :

Despite Australia scoring a massive 187, the Indian side had to win the toss, and the superstar opener Smriti Mandhana came out in god-mode to deliver a severe warning to the visitors. Alyssa Healy, the Australian captain, was bowled by Deepti Sharma, India’s best bowler of the day, before Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath, who were in good form from the first game, grabbed control. The pair was initially a little cautious until getting into their stride starting with the eighth over, when they scored 14 runs off Meghna Singh’s over. The Mooney-McGrath show was the only thing on after that. They simply gave off an air of invincibility, which the excellent batting surface at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai contributed to.

Before Mandhana went ballistic, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur elevated herself and made a few significant strokes. In order to reach her fifty, Mandhana hit a six and a four off Alana King. She then replicated that performance in the next over, bowled by Schutt, inspiring thousands of spectators at the stadium and online. Before being out against the flow of play, Mandhana hit a few more sixes, turning into a sixes dealer. Who could have known that she still had some time left in the game. Richa Ghosh hit three sixes in her first seven balls, and Devika Vaidya then tied the game with some vital boundaries for the second game in a straight.

As Mandhana crushed the Australian bowlers, the crowd thought back to another player wearing No. 18, Virat Kohli, who had also attacked the Australian team in Mohali in 2016 during a run chase during a T20 World Cup encounter.
