Satwik-Chirag win! India lead the Thomas Cup Final 2-0.

They have done it. After saving four match points in Game 2, Satwik-Chirag win 21-19 in the deciding game against Indonesian pair of Ahsan and Sukamuljo. The complete scoreline: 18-21, 23-21, 21-19

Now the Indonesians save one match point. India still have one more at 21-19

Both the pairs are taking turns to win points. That has made it 18-18,

  • Nothing in it. 17-17. This is going down the wire again, like the second game where the Satwik-Chirag saved four match points before winning 23-21.
  • Ahsan and Sukamuljo feeling the heat as Satwik-Chirag seem to have the answer to everything thrown at them, leading 9-6.
  • Ahsan comes up with a smash wonderfully angled to make it 6-6.

India level this doubles match at 1-1. What play!

  • After saving four match points, Satwik-Chirag win Game 2 by 23-21 to level the doubles rubber against Indonesia’s Ahsan-Sukamuljo at 1-1. The Indonesians would be gutted. What an opportunity lost to bring the Thomas Cup Final on level terms.
  • From 6-11 down, the Indonesians have made it 14-14. India must win this game to stay in this Match 2.
  • Services error from Satwik, third from him. That can prove costly. India’s lead is now just of one point, at 13-12.
  • Consistent play from Satwik-Chirag gives them an 11-6 lead at the breather in Game 2. The Indonesians won the first game 21-18.
  • A nod of appreciation from India’s doubles coach Mathias Boe as Satwik-Chirag make it 9-5.
  • Brilliant service return from Satwik, it set up Chirag after a lose defensive shot from Sukamuljo. The Indians lead 8-5.
  • Like in the first game, Satwik-Chirag has their noses in front at 6-4, but just can’t let it slip in this must-win game.

Satwik-Chirag comes back and cuts the deficit to two points at 16-18.

  • None of the teams give an inch, as Chirag whispers something in Satwik’s ears. It’s 8-all.
  • Satwik-Chirag keeping their noses in front at 6-4 in the first game.
  • It’s 2-2 after the opening exchanges in the first game.
