During the IPL 2022 auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore paid Rs. 7 crores for Faf du Plessis. Before the auction, Faf du Plessis set a base price of Rs. 2 crores for himself. He played for Chennai Super Kings in the last few seasons.
Plessis is now one of the most dangerous batsmen in the Indian Premier League. He has scored 2935 runs at an average of 34.94 in 100 IPL games, with 22 half-centuries. From IPL 2011 until IPL 2015, he was a member of the Chennai Super Kings. In 2013, he made his MLB debut, scoring 398 runs in 13 games.
Plessis played for Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL 2016 and IPL 2017 while CSK was banned for two seasons. CSK picked him up again in the IPL 2018 auction. In the last three seasons, Plessis has been a standout performer. He scored 396, 449, and 633 runs in IPL 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively.
In IPL 2021, the right-handed batter finished as the second-highest run-scorer. CSK was unable to keep Plessis for the IPL 2022 season due to stiff competition.
