As part of the upcoming Women’s 50-over World Cup, Mithali Raj has confirmed that Harmanpreet Kaur will be India’s vice-captain. While Deepti Sharma was vice-captain, she played both ODIs last week against New Zealand. Deepti remained as vice-captain following Harmanpreet’s absence in the fourth ODI. Harmanpreet returned for the final ODI, while Deepti stayed as vice-captain.
Deepti was selected as vice-captain by the BCCI and selectors for the two remaining One-Day Internationals. Mithali announced Harmanpreet as the team’s vice-captain during an online press conference. New Zealand will host the ICC Women’s World Cup, which begins on March 4. On March 6th, India’s women’s world cup campaign will kick off against Pakistan.
The former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, shared his World Cup knowledge with those who are making their World Cup debut. “Only one piece of advice I would give young players is to enjoy the big stage because placing too much pressure on yourself at the World Cup may prevent you from doing your best,” she said.
