In the 61 kg finals, Ravi Dahiya, a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, defeated Uzbekistan’s Gulomjon Abdullaev 11-10 to win gold at the Yasar Dogu Ranking Series. Dahiya improved on his last move after behind 8-10 to Abdullaev, and the match ended on a good note.
Mohammadbagher Esmaeil Yakhkeshi of Iran defeated the silver medalist in the semi-finals of the tournament. Aman and Gyanendra won bronze medals in the 57kg and 60kg categories, respectively, in a match they won against Kazakh Elkhan Assadov. Deepak Punia won the bronze in the 92kg category after he defeated him 7-1.
As part of the 57kg freestyle final in Tokyo, Ravi Dahiya defeated world champion Zavur Uguev 4-7 to become the second Indian to win a silver medal at the Olympics. His silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics disappointed him, as he had hoped to win gold.
Although I am pleased with the silver, I believe I might have done much better. Ravi Dahiya said he lost the gold medal despite giving all he had.
Ravi rose to fame after earning bronze at the 2019 World Championships in Nur Sultan, qualifying him for the Tokyo Olympics. Before moving to the Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi, Ravi wrestled in the Hansraj Brahmchari akhada in Nahri hamlet.
