The International Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Thomas Bach has warned three sports events might get excluded from the upcoming Olympics. The next Olympics event is going to take place in Los Angeles in the year 2028. The sports which fell in the category of being doubtful of their existence in the list of sports events are Weightlifting, Boxing, and modern pentathlon.
Modern Pentathlon is a sport that comprises five different events which are as follows: fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, and lastly an event that combines both the events of pistol shooting and running across the country. This sport is based on the attributes needed by the chivalry officer of the nineteenth century.
While addressing the media and press at the press conference held at the end of the three-day International Olympics Committee Executive Board meeting, Thomas Bach has made his intentions clear about the three above-mentioned sports events and also expressed his frustration towards FIFA.
The boards discussed and prepared the list of sports which is going to be proposed at the next season of the IOC meeting. 28 sports are there in that list in which none of the above-mentioned sports have successfully secured their position. The sports events mentioned in the list are as follows:
Athletics
Rowing

Football
Golf

The future of performance of Indian players highly depends on the inclusion of Boxing and Weightlifting as India is constantly producing medal winners in these two sports. The first Indian woman to win a medal in Olympics was Karnam Malleshwari, she won the medal in the sports event of weightlifting. Even in the last Olympics Lovlina Borgohain won a medal in the Boxing event and Mirabai Chanu in Weightlifting. Apart from them MC Mary Com and Vijender Singh also gave India several medals in Boxing. The reason stated by the IOC board for not including these three sports is the usage of restricted drugs and other medicines by the players which is not accepted by the committee.
